Edmund Abaka, Associate Professor of History, received a Fulbright Fellowship for Ghana.


Orlando Acevedo, Associate Professor of Chemistry, was awarded a prestigious 2018 ChemLuminary Award from the National ACS.


Jafari Allen, Associate Professor of Africana Studies, was elected 2017-2018 Apple Polishing Professor of the Year by the Association of Green Letter Organizations.


Michael Antoni, Professor of Psychology, received the ISBM Distinguished Scientist Award from the International Society of Behavioral Medicine.


Christina Arce, Associate Professor of Modern Languages & Literature, received the Katherina Singer Kovacs Prize.


Traci Ardren, Professor of Anthropology, was awarded a Dumbarton Oaks Fellowship for 2019. This is a prestigious award for pre-Columbian scholars.


Michael Bernath, Associate Professor of History, received an NEH Fellowship (2017-2018).


Jaswinder Bolina, Assistant Professor of Creative Writing, received a Majorie Stoneman Douglas Poetry Prize.


Charles S. Carver, Professor of Psychology, received the 2018 APA Distinguished Scientific Contribution Award. Read more.


Kevin Collins, Assistant Professor of Biology, received the 2018 NSF CAREER Award.


Jennifer Connolly, Assistant Professor of Political Science, was awarded the 2018 Educator of the Year Award from the ASPA South Florida Chapter. 


Logan Connors, Associate Professor of Modern Languages & Literature, received a Research Fellowship from the Institute for Advanced Study, Collegium de Lyon.


Thomas Curtright, Professor of Physics, was named Honorary Professor at Washington University.


Sannisha Dale, Assistant Professor of Psychology received an APA Samuel Turner Early Career Award for Distinguished Contributions to Diversity Research in Clinical Psychology and a Carolyn Payton Early Career Award for Society for Psychology of Women Research.


Heather Diack, Assistant Professor of Art History, received a Visiting Research Fellowship from Henry Moore Institute for the Study of Sculpture, England, and an Ansel Adams Research Fellowship from the Center for Creative Photography, University of Arizona.


June Teufel Dreyer, Professor of Political Science, was elected President of the American Association of Chinese Studies.


Jill Ehrenreich-May, Associate Professor of Psychology, was elected Fellow by ABCT.


Caleb Everett, Professor and Chair of Anthropology, received a PROSE Award from his book, Numbers and the Making of Us. This book was also named in the Top Ten Best Science Books of 2017 by the Smithsonian Institute.


Donette Francis, Associate Professor of English, was named a Distinguished Visiting Fellow at the Graduate School, City University of New York.


Jennifer Ferriss-Hill, Associate Professor of Classics, has been awarded an NEH Summer Stipend for 2018.


M. Evelina Galang, Professor of Creative Writing, was awarded an Omi Arts Residency (for October 2019) and was selected as a Dayton Literacy Peace Prize finalist.


Amina Gautier, Professor of Creative Writing, was awarded the 2018 PEN/Malamud Award for Excellence in the Short Story. This is the most prestigious award in North America for short story writers. Read more. She was also awarded residency at Virginia Center for the Creative Arts, MacDowell Colony, and Kimmel Harding Nelson Center. SHe received an Eric Hoffer Legacy Fiction Award.


Krista Goff, Assistant Professor, received a Kluge Center Fellowship from the Library of Congress.


Pamela Hammons, Professor of English, received a Folger Shakespeare Library Fellowship.


Scott Heerman, Assistant Professor of History, received a NEH Fellowship.


Calla Hummel, Assistant Professor of Political Science, received a Comparative Political Studies Award and ASPA section on Qualitative and Mixed Methods Research Award.


Youngmee Kim, Professor of Psychology, was elected Fellow by the American Psychosomatic Society and American Psychological Association.


Vendulka Kubalkova, Professor of International Studies, received a gold medal award which was awarded by unanimous vote of the faulty for excellence in teaching by Prague School of Economics: Faculty of International Relations.


Annette La Greca, Professor of Psychology, received a Journal of Pediatric Psychology Award for Most Cited and Downloaded Articles for the Past Year.


Mary Lindemann, Professor and Chair of History, was named President-Elect of the American Historical Association. She received an NEH Fellowship (2017-2018) and Humboldt Research Professorship.


Yolanda Martinez-San Miguel, Professor of Modern Languages & Literature, was named a Wilbur Marvin Visiting Scholar by Harvard University.


Kevin McCracken, Associate Professor of Biology, received a Doctor Honoris Causa from the Universidad Científica del Perú in Iquitos, Perú.


Bruce Miller, Professor of Theatre Arts, received a Lifetime Achievement Award in Theatre Education from the Florida Theatre Conference.


Dr. Jean-Hubert Olivier, Assistant Professor of Chemistry, was honored with the prestigious 2018 Beckman Young Investigators Award. To date, Olivier is the first University of Miami faculty member to receive this esteemed recognition. Read more.


Frank Penedo, Professor of Psychology, was elected President of International Society of Behavioral Medicine.


Gema Perez-Sanchez, Associate Professor of Modern Languages & Literature, received a 2018 Phil Zwickler Memorial Research Grant.


Sherri Porcelain, Voluntary Instructor of International Studies, was named "Mucua" ("Godmother of the Community"), the highest honor bestowed on an outsider by the Guna tribal leaders, for her 39 years of service to their health and welfare.


Charlotte Rogers, Associate Professor of English Composition, received a Life Membership Award from the Dade County Bar Association.


Jessica Rosenberg has been awarded a long-term research fellowship at the Huntington Library in San Marino, CA for the 2018-19 academic year to work on her book Botanical Virtues: Horticulture and Textual Culture in Early Modern England.


Joaquin Roy, Professor of International Studies and Director of the University of Miami European Union Center of Excellence, was awarded the Jean Monnet Chair by the EU Commission.


Shouraseni Roy, Professor of Geography, received a Fulbright Award.


Steven Safren, Professor of Psychology, was elected Fellow by ABCT.


Jan Sokol-Katz, Senior Lecturer of Sociology, received a 2018 Armando Alejandre Jr. Memorial Foundation Spirit of Service-Learning Award.


Mihoko Suzuki, Professor of English Literature, received a Folger Shakespeare Library Fellowship.


Lucina Uddin, Associate Professor of Psychology, was named a 2018 Canadian Institute for Advanced Research (CIFAR) Azrieli Global Scholar.


Amy Weisman, Associate Professor of Psychology, received an APA Stanley Sue Award for Distinguished Contributions to Diversity in Clinical Psychology.


Richard Weisskoff, Professor of International Studies, received a George A. Fulton Lifetime Achievement Award for Excellence in Economic and Demographic Analysis.


Jonathan West, Professor and Chair of Political Science, received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the National American Society for Public Administration (ASPA) Section on Ethics and Integrity of Governance.
