Types of Gifts

Annual Gifts

Every day, gifts from alumni, parents and friends make a critical difference in the quality of education at the College of Arts and Sciences.  Gifts to the College’s annual fund provide the Dean the greatest flexibility to direct funding where it is needed most.

Annual fund gifts helps to:

  • Provide research opportunities to students
  • Fund student travel to academic conferences
  • Equip and renovate classrooms and laboratories with the latest technology and provide lab support to propel and sustain groundbreaking research
  • Support distinctive programs such as the Da Vinci Scholars and Centers such as the University of Miami Institute for Advanced Study of the Americas, and the Center for the Humanities
  • Give scholarships to students in need or to assist those whose finances have changed and now require increased support

Endowed Gifts

An endowment is a permanent legacy reflecting a donor’s generosity.  It’s a gift that continues to give. Endowment gifts are invested to generate a steady stream of income for professorships, scholarships, fellowships, lectureships, and many other purposes.  Donors may also create unrestricted endowments, which produce resources that can be used where the need is greatest.  For more information, please call Karina Alvarez at (305) 284-2988.

Matching Gifts

Matching gifts can double or triple your investment in the College of Arts and Sciences. If you or your spouse/partner is affiliated with a company that has a matching gift program, obtain a matching gift form from the human resources office where you work. Include the completed form with your donation. Check here to see if your employer participates in a matching gifts program.
