Social Media Ambassador Program

The University of Miami College of Arts & Sciences’ Social Media Ambassador (SMA) Program is a unique and fun volunteer opportunity for students to gain professional social media experience before graduating. Ambassadors will work as a team to create and curate fun, engaging content for the College’s social media accounts. SMAs will show what it is like to be an Arts & Sciences student while building an online community for current and prospective students.

SMAs play an important role in the College’s broader communications efforts by helping promote major initiatives and outreach campaigns.

Undergraduate students from all UM majors interested in social media, marketing, video production, photography, vlogging and event planning are invited to apply.

Minimum qualifications and requirements:

  • Must be a student at the University of Miami
  • Ability to effectively communicate your ‘Cane Spirit to others
  • Professional work habits (dependable, reliable, team player, willingness to learn)
  • Willingness to perform social media ambassador duties for a full semester
  • Willingness to maintain professional standards of language and behavior
  • Commit to serve a one-semester term, with the option to renew

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain a personal presence on a variety of social media platforms
  • Brainstorm and create social media content for multiple platforms including Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Facebook
  • Attend meetings and provide input
  • Work closely with Arts & Sciences leadership and staff to research, plan, implement, and evaluate the College’s social media campaigns


  • Resume building experience that can be shared with potential employers
  • Increase connection to the University of Miami community
  • Exposure to social media brand strategy and new platforms through practice and training
  • Access to cover a variety of campus events and professional development opportunities, including networking events 
  • Recognition
