Welcome to the Jerry Herman Ring Theatre!

Our 2010-2011 Season:

September 29 – October 9, 2010
Urinetown
One of the most uproariously funny Broadway musicals in recent years, Urinetown is a satirical tale of greed, corruption, love, and revolution in a time when water is literally worth its weight in gold. An irreverently hilarious spoof, Urinetown has been praised for reinventing the very notion of what a Broadway musical could be.What a uniquely funny way to kick off our new season!

November 10 – 20, 2010
Hedda Gabler
Norwegian playwright Henrik Ibsen has been lauded as one of the most significant dramatists of the modern theatre for his unflinching realism, his controversial subject matter, and his revolutionary portrayal of women as independent thinkers. Ibsen's taut masterpiece unflinchingly leads us to its shocking but inevitable conclusion.

February 16 – 27, 2011
Lysistrata
Ancient Greece is now in the 21st year of its war with Sparta and there seems to be very little prospect of peace. Aristophanes’ 2,000-year-old play is just as shocking, hilarious and rewarding now as it was when it first played the massive amphitheatres of Greece’s Golden Age.

February 16 – 27, 2011
Big Love
Based on Aeschylus’ Classic tragedy The Suppliant Women, Big Love by contemporary writer Charles Mee seizes this ancient plot, updates it,and spins an explosively theatrical experience. “The audience alternatively laughs, hisses, and gasps, at times in horror, and at others in delight,” (Curtain Up).

Lysistrata and Big Love alternate performances over two weeks.

April 13 – 23, 2011
Rodgers and Hammerstein’s
Carousel
In a Maine coastal village toward the end of the 19th century, the swaggering, carefree carnival barker, Billy Bigelow, captivates and marries the naive millworker, Julie Jordan. With such classic songs as The Carousel Waltz, If I Loved You, June is Bustin' Out All Over and You'll Never Walk Alone, Carousel is dramatic, inspiring, and impassioned. Don’t miss it!
