Welcome to the MS and Graduate Certificate programs in Criminology & Criminal Justice

Dear Criminology and Criminal Justice Graduate Students:photo of professor Amie L. Nielsen

On behalf of the faculty and staff of the Masters of Science and Graduate Certificate programs, I am very pleased to welcome you to our graduate programs.  Our programs are designed to prepare students to enter into criminal justice occupations or to advance in a range careers in the broad and dynamic areas of criminology and the criminal justice system.  Students are provided with strong fundamentals in criminological theory and the criminal justice system and foundational training in research methods and statistics.  The M.S. program is designed to be adaptable to individual interests and needs such that students select electives, a curricula track – including classes offered both inside the Department of Sociology and throughout the wider University – and a culminating project that help students achieve their personal and professional goals.  Students will work closely with me and their advisors to make these selections in order to maximize their experiences.

Our outstanding faculty is dedicated to helping you to advance your professional goals.  We look forward to working with you!!

Amie L. Nielsen
