People and their roles on SEEDS
The Director of SEEDS and the NSF ADVANCE Primary Investigator is Kathryn Tosney, Chair of Biology. The Co-investigators are the Deans of UM's four science schools: Jacqueline Dixon , College of Arts and Sciences (CAS); James Tien, College of Engineering (COE); Roni Avissar , Rosentiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Sciences (RSMAS); and Pascal Goldschmidt, Miller School of Medicine (MED).

The SEEDS Steering Committee has representatives for each school: for RSMAS, Rana Fine, Professor of Marine and Atmospheric Chemistry and Susan Sponaugle, Associate Professor of Marine Biology and Fisheries; for MED, Sheri Keitz, Professor of Medicine and Dean of Diversity for the clinical departments and Mary Lou King, Professor of Cell Biology and Anatomy, for the basic science departments; for CAS, Barbara Whitlock , Assistant Professor of Biology; for COE, Helena Solo-Gabriele, Professor of Civil Architectural and Environmental Engineering and Associate Dean for Research.

Our Interactive Theatre Initiative is led by Jennifer Burke, MFA, Department of Theatre Arts (for photo, see SEEDS Theater page). Robert Johnson, Professor and Chair of Sociology leads the SEEDS Assessment team.

Michael Halleran, former
dean of CAS and SEEDS co-PI,
was instrumental in assuring SEEDS development. He left UM
to become Provost at William and Mary.
