"You Choose" Awards
"You Choose" award winners for 2011
will be announced January 25th.
Each year, the SEEDS "You Choose" program plans to make up to six awards of up to $2,500 each (plus variable cost share to be arranged by applicant). The type of award is not prespecified: applicants may for instance seek support to attend a leadership or scientific conference, visit another lab to establish a collaboration, bring in a speaker or collaborator, mount a career skills event, or fund personal research or publication, course buy-out, etc. The activity is up to the applicant: You Choose!

Wen-Hsiang Lee, Miller School of Medicine, for her application to host educational forums aimed at navigating the promotions and tenure process. Each forum will consist of presentations by members of the Promotion and Tenure Committee, a panel discussion, a networking event and a follow-up evaluation. Download her winning proposal. |

Paula Monje, Miller School of Medicine, for her application to enhance mentoring interactions by bringining in Dr, Ellen Daniell, Author of "Every Other Thursday", which describes how a group of women interacting over several years helped each other become highly successful scientists and other professionals. She will lead a workshop, open to the entire UM community, to discuss the concept and benefits of having a group help resolve career-related issues.
