Cuban Heritage Collection Undergraduate Scholars
The Goizueta Foundation has provided funding for eight student research assistants to work with the University of Miami’s Cuban Heritage Collection (CHC). The CHC is one of the world’s largest repositories of research materials about Cuban and the Cuban diaspora that includes rare books, manuscripts, photographs, maps, architectural drawings, audio-visual materials, newspapers, and other materials. The student research program is part of a larger project of The Goizueta Foundation to enhance and expand the reach of the Cuban Heritage Collection. Selected students will work on research projects with faculty from departments and programs including but not limited to, Art and Art History, English, Geography, History, International Studies, Latin American Studies, Modern Languages and Literature, Music, Religious Studies and Theatre Arts.
Open to all undergraduate students, the program requires 10 hours a week for 12 weeks during the academic year or 6-8 weeks during the summer, for a total of 120 hours. Students are required to submit a three to five page report to the Dean of the College of Arts & Sciences at the end of the assistantship, and will be awarded a $3,000.00 stipend.
