Dr. Fred Westphal |

Professor Fred Westphal received the B.A. from Wheaton College and the M.A. and Ph.D. from Northwestern University. He has been a member of the Department since 1965. He formerly taught at State University College, Fredonia, New York. He was a visiting professor at Northwestern University in 1968 and the University of Colorado at Boulder in 1985. He is chiefly interested in the philosophy of Nietzsche, existentialism, philosophy of religion and ethics. He is the author of The Activity of Philosophy (Prentice-Hall 1969) and At the Core (Dovetail, 1989), and the editor of The Art of Philosophy (Prentice-Hall, 1972) and Planet in Peril: Essays in Environmental Ethics (Harcourt Brace, 1994).
