Notice that this sequence requires only two methods even though it has a reading assignment with each assignment and moves students through several different kinds of material from artifacts both large and small to music and photographs. Edwards and Winkler is a workable substitute for Lutz and Collins if you want students to work with editorial cartoons instead of photographs. Or, you might substitute Chavez and have students read magazine images instead.
