I teach and research American politics at the University of Miami.  I specialize in the study of Congress, political parties, interest groups, elections, political history, and political institutions.  I have published research on filibustering, legislative parties, Congressional rules, and bill cosponsorship in the U.S. House.

I have a forthcoming book from the University of Chicago Press entitled Filibustering: A Political History of Obstruction in the House and Senate, available June 2010.  I have also made media appearances and published brief summaries of my work for broad audiences.  Here are some links:
