I received my Ph.D. in Political Science in 2005 from the Department of Government at Harvard University. My research and teaching interests are in American Politics, political behavior, public opinion, political psychology, and survey research methodology.

Most of my current research agenda examines the role that everyday conversations about politics and current events among citizens, what I call “civic talk,” have on how active and interested we choose to be in politics. I also am pursuing other projects that address a diverse array of topics, including immigrant political participation, survey research methodology, the role of politics in human mate choice, and biological antecedents of political participation.
