Prof. Susan Haack granted Doctor Honoris Causa from Romanian University
Professor Susan Haack, Distinguished Professor in the Humanities, Cooper Senior Scholar in Arts and Sciences, Professor of Philosophy, and Professor of Law, was honored in Romania in December, where Petre Andrei University awarded her the title of Doctor Honoris Causa in Philosophy.
Haack traveled to Iași, Romania, to receive the accolade at a special academic ceremony, where she also addressed Petre Andrei University faculty, students and the press.
“It was clear that they knew my work quite well, and it was very gratifying to receive the honor,” Haack said.
Haack was chosen for the award because her groundbreaking work in epistemology, logic, political and social sciences has been widely cited byscholars in Romania and throughout the world.
She was included in Peter J. King’s One Hundred Philosophers: The Life and Work of the World’s Greatest Thinkers and on a list of the ten most important women philosophers of all time by Ireland’s Sunday Independent. Her work also inspired a collection of essays entitled Susan Haack: A Lady of Distinctions.
