General Education Requirements

The College of Arts and Sciences requires all students earning a B.A. or a BS degree to show competency in a language other than English by successfully completing an approved college language course at the 200 level or higher.

Humanities Literature and Writing Credits

The Department of Modern Languages and Literatures offers a variety of courses that fulfill these distribution requirements for students in most majors (please consult your School or College guidelines).  Students can easily fulfill some or all of these requirements by earning a major or a minor in a Modern language.

Courses fulfilling the Humanities Literature Requirement:

301, 310, 321, 353, 354, 355, 363, 364 and 365

Courses granting Writing Credit:

301, 302, 303, 310, 321, 322, 353, 354, 355, 363, 364, 365, 442 and 501

Courses may simultaneously fulfill the Humanities Literature Requirement and the Writing Credit or the Modern Language Requirement and the Writing Credit.  A course CANNOT simultaneously fulfill the Modern Language Requirement and the Humanities Literature Requirement.
