Salvador Luis Raggio’s experimental novel ZEPPELIN was published in Peru by Editorial Casatomada (June 2009). ZEPPELIN is an avant-garde novel inspired by the aesthetics of filmmakers like David Lynch and Stan Brakhage; the book also pays tribute to contemporary Mexican writer Mario Bellatin. Salvador Luis Raggio has written the prologue to an anthology of contemporary fiction: Asamblea portátil. Muestrario de narradores iberoamericanos -Portable Assembly, 2009. Julio Ortega, Professor of Hispanic Studies at Brown University, has recently said about Asamblea portátil: “Salvador Luis merece reconocimiento por su alerta tarea de crítico y editor de las nuevas formas de la escritura trasatlántica. Sumando las orillas del idioma, esta antología suya, que se anuncia como Una caja-maleta (o el eclecticismo), ha sido publicada bajo el sello de Editorial Casatomada. Art Tang's article “Le Brésil de Conrad Detrez : une subversion du rêve tier-mondiste,” on Conrad Detrez has been accepted for publication in this year’s Travaux de Littérature’s special edition focusing on L’Amérique des écrivains français.
Conferences and Colloquia
Alexandra Gonzenbach, "La abyeccion, el discurso doble y la autodefinicion de don Quijote" and Maria Gracia Pardo, "Cervantes: literatura mayor para menores" were invited to present their papers at the Fourth Florida Cervantes Symposium, held at FIU on Saturday, 17 April, 2010.
Sara Gusky's paper entitled, “Africanizing the Archives: Rewriting History in Alejo Carpentier’s El reino de este mundo and Gabriel García Márquez’ Del amor y otros demonios” was published in "The Romance Review" Spring 2010, The Boston College Romance Language Department Journal of Literary Criticism: Selected Articles from the 17th Annual Romance Language and Literatures Conference 2009. Benoît Mauchamp presented a paper entitled "Du Contexte au texte : la médiation d'un corps référentiel" in Paris during the seminar "Les mises en récit du réel" organized by Art2day (Agency for Contemporary Arts) during Spring 2010.
Catalina Ramírez presented a paper titled "La creación del sujeto modernista en 'La tristeza andaluza' de Rubén Darío" at the XIX Congreso Internacional de Literatura Centroamericana in León, Nicaragua. The conference took place from March 24-26, 2010 at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de Nicaragua and was organized with the support of Purdue University Calumet and Universidad Nacional de Costa Rica.
Eva Silot presented a paper titled, "Constructing a Transnational Identity: A case study of the Cuban Musical Diaspora", at the 8th Cuban Research Institute (CRI) Conference on Cuban and Cuban American Studies, on February 11-13th, 2010 at Florida International University.
Eva Silot presented a paper at the conference Birth, Stages, Declines and Revivals, from the International Association for the Study of Popular Music (IASPM) -US Branch, that took place in New Orleans, from April 8th-11th, 2010.
She participated in the panel "The Cuban Diaspora". The paper title was, "Constructing a Transnastional Identity: A case study of the Cuban Musical Diaspora since the 1990s".
