Mangrove - Fall Updates
Hello everyone!
Greetings from the staff at Mangrove, the undergraduate literary journal at UM! Hope everyone's school year is off to a great start. We're writing to update you on some of the exciting news and upcoming deadlines at Mangrove:
This year, we're proud to announce that for the first time ever we will be accepting submissions in fiction, poetry, non-fiction, and art from undergraduates nationwide, in addition to UM undergraduates. We're confident that this step will both increase the amount and diversity of submissions we receive and elevate our status and visibility as a literary journal. Everyone wins!
Our reading period for the 2011-2012 Print Edition of Mangrove is officially open. E-mail your best work to mangrovejournal@gmail.com now through December 15, 2011. All work submitted to the journal must have a cover page that includes the author's full name, e-mail address, major, and year in school, and should be sent attached as a MS Word document. Submissions should be in 12-pt. Times New Roman font, should use complete tab indentations, and should have single spaces between sentences. Fiction and nonfiction should be double-spaced. For more details on how to submit, please visit our website. Don't pass up this great opportunity for publication in a national undergraduate literary journal.
Connect with Mangrove online! For reminders about upcoming deadlines, local event recommendations, cultural links, and to show your support, please follow us on Facebook & Twitter. You can also take a look at our new blog, which we update weekly with content ranging from creative exercises to cultural and literary articles and discussions.
Finally, we would love for you to come meet us! Whether you're interested in being a staff reader, becoming an editor, or writing content for our blog, Mangrove is a great way to get involved on campus while building your resume. Consider attending the next USpeak literary event on Oct. 13 at 7 pm in the CAS Gallery, where a bunch of us will be meeting up to check out a reading from visiting poet, Emma Trelles. If you missed out on joining Mangrove this semester, we will be accepting applications for new staffers in the spring.
We're excited to see where this new year will take us and hope you are, too! Don't forget to start submitting so we can get to work reading all of your great writing.
Best,
Falyn Freyman
Associate Editor
