CANE CARD

The cane card is a photo ID which allows access to the library and other services that require identification. Cane Cards will be issued in person at the Cane Card office, currently located in the McKnight Building, 1st floor, Suite 100.  Please provide a valid photo I.D. and be prepared to have a photo taken.  There is no charge for your first card.  Hours of operation are Monday-Friday, 8:30am -5:00pm.

STUDENT NUMBER (C NUMBER)

All students are assigned an ID number during the application process (C#). A Social Security Number can be used if C# is unknown, but it is recommended that all students learn their C#s for security purposes.

WELLNESS CENTER

The  Patti and Allan Herbert Wellness Center, located at 1241 Dickinson Drive, is a facility for students, alumni and employees. A valid Cane card and payment of the Wellness Center Fee is required to enter the facility. Contact the membership office at the center or by phone (305) 284-8500 for more information.

UNIVERSITY CENTER

The University Center (UC) offers students two spacious lounge areas where they can relax. Also located in the University Center are ATM machines, the University Credit Union, The Launchpad, Copy Center, Food Court, swimming pool, Post Office, Lime, Ticketmaster, Bookstore, and Dining Services. One of the most important services found in the University Center is the Information Desk, with answers to questions about UM as well as South Florida events and activities.

OFF CAMPUS HOUSING

The University of Miami Department of Housing and Residential Life provides assistance to students, staff, and faculty with identifying off-campus housing options.

PARKING AND TRANSPORTATION

The University of Miami’s Department of Parking and Transportation is committed to providing reliable transportation options and safe parking that enhances the quality of life for our students, faculty, staff, and visitors while providing mobility and accessibility and promoting sustainability on campus.

Please Note: Parking permits are not needed after 4pm.

DINING SERVICES & RATHSKELLER

The University of Miami’s Dining Services Department is pleased to offer exceptional dining service programs throughout our campuses which provide quality, variety, convenience and flexibility. Dining options include traditional, all-you-care-to-eat residential dining facilities, the Hurricane Food Court, conveniently located food carts, vending facilities and more.

The Rathskeller is a popular student meeting place that not only serves great hamburgers, but also is a venue for campus entertainment such as live bands, poetry slams, dance parties and comedy acts. The “Rat,” as it’s popularly known, is open Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
