When may I begin my studies?

The MALS Program offers rolling admissions for Fall, Spring and Summer semesters.

How large are classes?

The majority of courses are offered in seminar classrooms and average between 10 – 15 students.

Can elective courses be taken from other departments?

Students may enroll in other University of Miami graduate level courses with the approval of the Program Director, as long as courses are Humanities based.

How long will it take me to complete the certificate?

There is no time limit for completing the Certificate Program, and students do not need to enroll in consecutive semesters.

How will this certificate affect my career?

The earning of a Certificate at the University of Miami is impressive on any resume. The program is designed to assist you in developing the analytical thinking and communication skills that mark a truly educated person, to develop research and writing skills, and to widen your problem-solving capabilities by exposing you to an interdisciplinary intellectual experience. These qualities are highly-prized by most employers.

Students who obtained a graduate degree in a non-Humanities based area will find the MALS Certificate will help them acquire the aforementioned skills. Post-Graduate students who have changed careers, or are interested in new areas, may use the Certificate Program to take courses in their new or desired field.
