UM-FIU Student Exchange Program
Dear CLAS community,
To broaden curricular offerings and capitalize on our complementary strengths, The Miami Consortium for Latin American and Caribbean Studies has established an exchange program with FIU for fully admitted UM MA students in Latin American Studies and UM PhD students with an interest in Latin America or the Caribbean. Students may take FIU courses for UM credit when those courses are not offered at UM and they are not limited-access courses. Students register for a UM course, but attend the FIU class. Likewise, FIU students may do the same at UM.
UM students participating in the program continue to pay UM tuition and fees for the courses they take at FIU. Students are limited to taking a maximum of six graduate credits in the exchange.
Students may consult a list of approved LACC courses
or consult the FIU online course catalogue.
Instructions for applying to the program can be found here ![]()
The application for the exchange is found here ![]()
We urge students to take advantage of this valuable intellectual exchange. Any interested, eligible student should review these materials closely and email the Director of the Latin American Studies (LAS) Programs at UM, Dr. Marten Brienen (mbrienen@miami.edu), for an appointment to review and sign your application.
