I.                     Core Requirements (12 credits)

II.                   Thematic Core (12 credits)
Students are encouraged to finish the core courses above prior to taking these classes. The prerequisite for all INS courses above the 100 level is INS 101.  Students must take one course from each of the following four fields. At least two courses (6 credits) must be taken at the 500 level.  Courses from other schools and departments may be taken as equivalents of INS courses with the prior approval of the INS Advisor. Study abroad courses will also be granted INS equivalency with the approval of the INS Advisor.

III.                 INS Electives and Interdisciplinary Courses (6 credits)
Students are required to take a total of 6 credits of elective course work from INS courses at the 300 level or above. With the approval of the INS Advisor, students may take up to two elective courses (6 credits) from other departments such as Geography and Regional Studies, History, Anthropology, Sociology, Political Science, Economics, Religion, Art History, Foreign Languages, Environmental Science, et cetera.  Appropriate study abroad courses, an approved internship (INS 519), or an honors thesis (INS 418 & 419) may also be used to fulfill elective credit requirements.
