Background Information

Zuzer Calero is the Assistant Director of the Health Economics Research Group (HERG), located in the Sociology Research Center at the University of Miami.  She received her Bachelor of Science with Golden Key Honors in Criminal Justice in May 2004 from Florida International University and her Master’s degree in 2009 from the University of Miami.  Zuzer has diverse experience in the criminal justice/substance abuse treatment field, having worked in both client service and administrative roles.  She has worked as a Case Manager for juveniles within the justice system, many of which had been arrested for violations related to drug and other substance abuse problems, and has worked for the Department of Homeland Security – U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services alongside the Regional Director and Public Affairs Division, where she participated in the implementation of the new online appointment and kiosk system Infopass.
