Background Information

Dr. Popovici is a Senior Research Associate with the Health Economics Research Group at the University of Miami. She received her doctorate in Economics from Florida International University in 2007. Her dissertation focused on the relationship between intellectual property rights and innovation. Ioana’s main area of research is health economics. Her recent research includes studies that analyze the potential consequences of substance use, the effectiveness of continuing care in the treatment of substance abuse, and the economic costs of substance use to society. Dr. Popovici’s recent publications include articles in the Journal of Substance Abuse Treatment, American Journal of Health Promotion, and Evaluation Review.
