Background
Dr. Gumus is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Health Policy & Management at the Florida International University. She received her Ph.D. in Economics from Cornell University in 2002. Before joining the FIU faculty, she was at the University of Miami in Coral Gables, FL and IZA, Institute for the Study of Labor in Bonn, Germany. Her fields of specialization are labor economics, health economics, applied econometrics, and public economics. Her research interests include labor market effects of health insurance coverage, substance use and employment, social security and welfare state, and structural modeling of application for retirement and disability insurance.
