Background
Dr. Letson holds a Ph.D. in economics from the University of Texas at Austin with concentrations in natural resource and environmental economics, public finance, and mathematical programming. He received his Bachelor of Science (Magna Cum Laude with distinction) from James Madison University, with a double major in economics and English. He has also served as an environmental economist with the Natural Resources and the Environment Division of the Economic Research Service, United States Department of Agriculture.
Professor Letson's recent work has been published in Natural Resources Journal, Environmental and Resource Economics, Water Resources Research, and the American Journal of Agricultural Economics. He has served on the editorial councils for the Journal of Environmental Economics and Management and the Journal of Agricultural and Applied Economics. He has been a consultant for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the U.S. Department of Agriculture, and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. He has recently been a visiting scholar at the Institut National de la Recherche Agronomique (France) and at the Universidade Nova de Lisboa (Portugal).
