Background Information
Catherine Maclean is a Senior Research Associate with the Health Economics Research Group at the University of Miami. Catherine earned a B.S. (Honors) in Economics in 2002 and a Masters of Economics in 2004 at Dalhousie University, Nova Scotia, Canada. The title of her Masters thesis was A Microdata Analysis of Regional Differences in Health Outcomes Among Canadian Youth: Empirical Evidence from the Canadian Community Health Survey Cycle 1.1. While working on her Masters degree, Catherine was employed as a research assistant by Dr. Shelley Phipps, a health and labor economist, at the Department of Economics at Dalhousie. During this employment, Catherine preformed research on the well-being of women, children, and youth. Prior to her time at the Department of Economics, Catherine worked as a research assistant for Dr. Lori Curtis, a health economist, at the Department of Community Health and Epidemiology at Dalhousie where she was involved with several studies that examined the impact of labor market participation on women’s health.
