CLAS: Center for Latin American Studies

Latin American and Caribbean
Graduate Student Conference

9th Annual South Florida Latin American and Caribbean Studies
Graduate Student Conference

What started as a joint effort between the University of Miami and Florida International University has expanded to include universities from throughout the greater South Florida region. The 9th Annual Latin American and Caribbean Studies Graduate Student Conference welcomed students from both Florida Atlantic University and University of North Carolina, a partnership that goes beyond the University classroom. The Graduate Student Conference not only provides a great learning experience but also a time to share with fellow students and faculty and generate ideas for further research. Beyond academics, the Conference is ultimately a celebration of Latin American identity and the many things that make Latin America and the Caribbean unique.

The Graduate Student Conference consists of different panels with topics ranging from immigration to music, film and even archeology. Prize winners are announced at the conference. Students across all of South Florida are united under their shared interest in the Latin America and Caribbean region.
