Barrett Prize for Best Ph.D. Dissertation on a Latin American Topic
We are pleased to announce the 2006/07 competition for the Barrett Prize, an annual award presented to a UM doctoral student whose work focuses on a Latin American topic. The $1,500 prize will be awarded to the student (or, in the case of a tie, the two students) with the best Ph.D. dissertation(s).
Dissertations defended during the 2006/2007 calendar year in the Social Sciences or Humanities are eligible for nomination by faculty members. This award is funded through an endowment, and the selection process is administered by the Center for Latin American Studies.
We are now accepting nominations. Please deliver your nominations and copies of the dissertations to:

Deadline for receipt of nominations and copies of dissertations will be:
4:00pm Monday April 2, 2007
The winning dissertation will be announced at the May graduation ceremonies of International Studies.
