The goal of the Department of Biology at the University of Miami is to expand and strengthen opportunities for undergraduates at the cutting edge of our discipline. We offer an undergraduate education that produces young scientists and citizens who understand the scope and perspective of modern biology. Our students receive excellent preparation for advanced work in the sciences, for professional careers in health, law, and policy, and for good citizenship in a society increasingly affected by and dependent on modern science and technology.
Most premedical, predental, and preveterinary students, as well as those students wishing to attend graduate school in the biological sciences, take the B.S. program, which is broad enough to prepare students well for professional schools and professional careers.
Consider entering the Honors in Biology Program, as it gives you an opportunity to work closely with a faculty member and to accomplish your own original research. In the honors program, you will also have the opportunity to participate in Honors Seminars, in which you can discuss your own research and that of your peers.
