The animal facility of the Department of Biology is located in the basement of Cox Science Building to host non-mammalian animals such as fish, reptiles (Dr. Richard Tokarz), and marine invertebrates such as sea urchins and amphipods (Drs. William Browne and Athula Wikramanayake). The facility includes eight animal rooms and a fly kitchen (Dr. Akira Chiba). A newly renovated zebrafish room shared by Drs. Dallman, Lu, and Skromne research labs has been fully operational.  It is equipped with two independent recirculating systems that are supplied with RO water and can accommodate up to 1,000 tanks.  Numerous vertebrate and invertebrate models are available in the facility for graduate and undergraduate research and education.
