The BFA degree carries an automatic minor in Art History and does not require another minor outside the department.
Freshman applicants interested in the BFA program need to send their regular application materials to the University of Miami Admissions Office and upload their portfolios to the department of Art and Art History at our Decision Deskdrop box at:
http://www.decisiondesk.com/clients/umiamiarts/apply/flexform/1/
This is a very user-friendly site that offers tech support and allows you to make changes to your application, if you wish, at a later time. Image files are accepted as JPEG, JPG, PNG, or GIF files. Applications are reviewed on a periodic basis, so there is no deadline, however, we advise that new students apply no later than May 1 for the following Fall semester, and that current students apply before the registration deadline for the term they wish to begin as a BFA student. The department will notify applicants whether they have been admitted into the BFA program soon after the Admissions office makes its decisions: they periodically send us a list. Should you hear from them before we do, you can certainly contact the department to find out thestatus of your application to the BFA program (email art-arh@miami.edu: results will not be given out over the phone). Students admitted into the BA program but not the BFA program may reapply again but need to be in the program for at least a full year before graduation.
Students currently enrolled at the University of Miami in a BA program should follow the same application process. For questions, contact
