The University of Miami offers prelaw advising, a unique service for currently enrolled prelaw students. This service complements the academic advising students receive in the department of their majors and minors. Prelaw Advising Offices are located in the College of Arts and Sciences, 213 Ashe, and in the School of Business Administration, 104 Merrick. Prelaw students register with their Prelaw Advising Office in order to be added to the Prelaw ListServ for current announcements of upcoming workshops and events, such as the Annual LSAC Miami Law Forum.
Selecting a law school needs to be a well thought-out and researched decision. In selecting a law school, students should examine their individual priorities and consider the following factors: Where can I get accepted? How much will it cost? What is the location? What is the size of the law school? What is the reputation of the law school? What special programs are offered? What joint degree programs are offered? What are the job opportunities when I graduate? These, along with a host of other considerations, are important factors that will ultimately determine which law school you will attend.
For answers to these and many more questions that you will have as a prelaw student, schedule an appointment to meet with a prelaw advisor (listed below) who are available to assist you throughout the year. The Prelaw Office houses the Prelaw Resource Libraryavailable to all enrolled prelaw students.
The Prelaw Handbook is a valuable tool that guides you through the law school application process and may be viewed by accessing:
