REGISTRATION STEPS

To begin your Arts & Sciences experience and course registration, please complete the following steps:

Step 1 – CHECK YOUR UNIVERSITY OF MIAMI E-MAIL AT: email.miami.edu
Your University of Miami e-mail will be main method of communication, so it is critical that you check it on a regular basis.

Step 2 – LOG IN TO BLACKBOARD
Using your Cane ID, you will log in to Blackboard at https://courses.miami.edu.

1. Click on “Arts & Sciences Welcome and Registration Guide” under “My Organizations.”
2. Complete the module found on the “Arts & Sciences Welcome and Registration Guide” Home Page. This module serves the following principal purposes:

• Provide instructions on how to register for your classes.
• Introduce you to the College of Arts & Sciences, including majors, minors, and requirements. Links to further information about each major and minor are provided, however, you may access this information at http://bulletin.miami.edu/undergraduate-academic-programs/arts-sciences/.

Step 3 – REGISTER
Register for courses, referring to the instructions provided in the “Arts & Sciences Welcome and Registration Guide” in Blackboard, as well as our advising appointment. Remember that in order to be considered full-time, you must enroll in 12-17 credits your first semester at the University of Miami.

Step 4 – SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT WITH YOUR ACADEMIC ADVISOR FOR REGISTRATION (If Needed)
You will receive an email from an Arts & Sciences Academic Advisor regarding additional advising the Tuesday after you have completed your admissions deposit. Be sure to reply to this email to schedule an appointment.

We will discuss goals, major selection, degree requirements, course selection, AP/IB/CLEP scores, campus referrals, and other topics.

Please have the following available for your advising appointment if they apply to you:
• AP/IB/CLEP scores
• A copy of your most recent transcript(s) from any other colleges you’ve completed courses at.
• Send all official transcripts to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions

Step 5 – REVIEW THE ACADEMIC CALENDAR
As you begin to attend classes, you may want to adjust your schedule. Be mindful of deadlines listed on the Academic Calendar.

LOOKING FORWARD
Faculty Advisors will be assigned in CaneLink by September 10th. Prior to this assignment, you can work with your Professional Academic Advisor who assisted you with registration. Once the semester begins, advisors will be available on a walk-in basis through September 14th.

The Center for Freshmen Advising is always available to first-year students. Please visit as.miami.edu/fysadvising for more information.
