Summer Research Program for Underrepresented Minorities & Women

The Office of Undergraduate Research and Community Outreach is pleased to announce the call for applicants for the College of Arts and Sciences Summer Research Program for Underrepresented Minorities & Women. The program is open to underrepresented minority and women students in the University of Miami College of Arts and Sciences. Qualified applicants should have completed at a minimum their sophomore year, be US citizens or permanent residents and have a minimum GPA of 3.0.

Program participants will conduct research with a UM faculty mentor. Funds will be provided for program- selected housing and meals on campus and a stipend of $3,000 for the ten- week period. Participants are not permitted to register for courses or to have jobs during the ten-week program. Participants are expected to spend 40 hours a week in research activities. In addition, there will be required weekly meetings with the program director and cultural activities on some weekends. At the end of the program on July 24/25, all participants will be required to give a public presentation of their work and submit a research paper.

  1. a completed application
  2. a description of a proposed project of no more than two pages
  3. a paragraph describing how the CAS program will help in achieving your career goals
  4. a letter of support from the faculty mentor
  5. a copy of your most recent ACE (unofficial transcripts)
