The Humanities Colloquium

The Humanities Colloquium, sponsored by the College of Arts & Sciences, brings together faculty and students from a range of different departments and programs to foster interdisciplinary scholarship and intellectual exchange.   Participants have included faculty members from Art History, Biology, English, Modern Languages and Literatures, Geography, History, Judaic Studies, Latin American Studies, Law, and Philosophy.  In addition to monthly lunchtime discussions of critical theory, the Colloquium has cosponsored talks by visiting scholars and shared its members’ work in progress. Over the past decade, the group’s topics have included trauma and memory in Holocaust and the Caribbean, reconfiguring postcolonial theory, interpretation in the sciences and the arts, and the relation between ethics and aesthetics..
